The unrivalled capital of the Rías Baixas region.

Pontevedra is the unrivalled capital of the Rías Baixas region and boasts the prettiest and best preserved medieval quarter in Galicia after that of Santiago de Compostela. Its gastronomic scene revolves around a succession of lovely squares: Teucro, Mendez Nuñez, La Verdura and La Leña.

The choices are many, from time-honoured tascas or taverns to cutting edge winebars known as vinotecas. On our wine tasting and culinary tour we will first visit the plaza de abastos or municipal market where you learn all about the huge variety of fish and shellfish that earns Galicia its justifiable reputation as a world seafood capital. After that we’ll call in on a couple of traditional bars where you will gain a valuable insight into the culinary traditions of the area, most notably its fabulous Albariño wine but also lesser known quality reds such as caíño and espadeiro.

Our final port of call will be at one of Galicia’s leading vinotecas where you will enjoy a delicious 4 course wine pairing experience. This is a very wine intensive tour, geared to serious wine lovers and adventurous foodies. If fish and seafood aren’t your thing, there are great alternatives such as world class Galician beef and organically farmed pork from revived breeds such porco celta. We regret we do not cater to vegetarians.
