This tour will take you beyond the lovely seascapes of the Salnés Valley to the mountain region bordering Portugal with its lovely wine estates known as Quintas

This itinerary is similar to 3 Day Albariño Rías Baixas Tour with the following additions. The Quinta de San Amaro Hotel & Restaurant will be our base for the duration of the tour.
Itinerary

After picking you up from the airport/train station, we’ll check into the wonderful Quinta de San Amaro Hotel & Restaurant, one of the finest country hotels in Galicia, located only twenty minutes from the beautiful provincial capital Pontevedra.

Surrounded by vineyards, picturesque stone barns and a small church, it’s the perfect base for a Rías Baixas wine and food tour.

After a leisurely lunch at the hotel we’ll take in our first two Salnés Valley wineries, returning to Quinta de San Amaro in the early evening for dinner and free time.

On day two in the morning we’ll visit an award-winning winery in the Riás Baixas Ribeira do Ulla subzone and then head for the ancient city of Santiago de Compostela, visit the municipal market where we’ll have lunch and then a walk around, imbibing the wonderful atmosphere of its gorgeous streets and open air cafés.

After that it’s back to the Quinta de San Amaro and time out before we head to Pontevedra for dinner at the town’s premier “viñoteca” Bagos.

Visit wineries in the Rías Baixas subzone Condado do Tea and also the vineyards around Melgaço just across the River Miño in Portugal.

Have lunch with a local winemaker of renown, return to Pontevedra for dinner in the charming coastal village of Combarro, noted for its picturesque seafront hórreos or stone granaries.

Visit wineries in the Rías Baixas subzone O Rosal. Lunch will be at a lovely wine estate nearby and then we’ll visit Baiona, a lovely port with spectacular medieval fortress built right on the ocean.

Baiona was the first place in Europe to receive the news of the discovery of America. After a walk around its noble streets we’ll dine in one of the top eateries in town.

The kicks off with a relaxed stroll down to the Real Club Nautico and a private yacht that will take us out to the islands of the Parque Nacional de las Islas del Atlántico, anchoring off the spectacular Playa de Rodas.

We’ll have lunch onboard, taste some fine Albariño and perhaps have a dip, should the mood take us.

After this we’ll head back to the hotel for our farewell dinner.

Drop off at the airport/train station for your onward journey.

What travelers say

“Adrian organised a sail boat cruise for our group from Pontevedra to Illas Cíes and the Parque Nacional das Illas Atlanticas and return. It was a very enjoyable day (daze) cruising and with superb seafood and wine. The day was hot and dry and we all had a wonderful time. The skipper very competent and we really enjoyed our visit to the island and later to the small café at Cangas before our return to Pontevedra. I may add that Adrian also assisted on our Wine & Food Tour of Galicia and made it so easy for us to talk to the winemakers and explanations of the various processes.”
